Here's our District 3-AA girls' basketball rankings for the 2012-13 season. Records through Feb. 4. Rankings are independent of D3 power ratings used for seeding purposes.
1. York Catholic (20-1)– last week: 1 – What other adjectives can we use to describe the Irish? Trinity, way back on Dec. 8, is the only team to defeat York Catholic, which puts that 20-game winning streak on the line tonight against arch-rival Delone Catholic.
2. Delone Catholic (17-4) – last week: 2 – The Squires had a little trouble putting Hanover away but a victory over York Catholic would generate all kinds of street cred when the District 3 Tournament rolls around. Still the second-toughest out in midstate.
3. Oley Valley (17-4) – last week: 3 – Had no trouble dispatching Antietam, Tulpehocken and Kutztown last week. What that means is Oley Valley has now claimed eight straight. Looking to close strong regular season against gritty Brandywine Heights tonight.
4. Annville-Cleona (13-8) – last week: 5 – Hammered out a nice win over Lebanon Catholic and stretched its winning streak to three games. Also qualified for the L-L Tournament for the first time since 2005-06.
5. Camp Hill (13-7) – last week: 4 – A tough week for the Lions included losses to Susquenita, East Pennsboro and a near-miss with struggling Northern. Mark Clarke's outfit needs to find a bit more consistency.
