GIRLS' TRACK AND FIELD
MID-PENN CAPITAL DIVISION
Trinity won the Mid-Penn Capital Division last year in girls' track and field, and that was just the prelude to winning the District 3-AA team championship. The Shamrocks also have a returning double-gold medalist from the district meet in Shannon Quinn, who won the 400 and 800-meter races with a 57.00 and a 2:14.73, respectively. The 400 time is a district record.
Bishop McDevitt has a returning runner who won two golds at districts last year, in the 100 and 200 sprints with a 12.98 and a 26.27, respectively. Anna Bailey is back after setting a District 3-AA record in the javelin with a 137-5. Along with pole vaulter Tesia Kempski, the Crusaders look ready to give Trinity a run for the division crown.
East Pennsboro will be hard pressed to catch either Trinity or Bishop McDevitt, but with Kaylee Yoder in the hurdles and jumps, and Angel Barber running the distance races, the other teams in the division may be hard pressed to catch the Panthers.
Camp Hill has three runners back from last year's District 3-A 4x800 relay championship team. Zoe Matherne, Ali Herr and Kelsey Bentz return, along with thrower Brooke Taylor and jumper Elena Bostdorf.
Northern is a little low on numbers but is balanced across the board in events, with pole vaulter Kennedy Shank standing out a bit above the rest after finishing fourth in the PIAA Class AAA meet last year.
West Perry, which went 2-5 last year, and Susquenita, 0-8 last year, are both looking to rebuild and improve their records. The Mustangs have the versatile Erin Eshelman, who will compete in the jumps and throws. For the Blackhawks, Brooke Hargenrader qualified for districts in the long and triple jumps.
Middletown enters the spring with a small roster, and looking to grow the program.
