The Mid-Penn Conference and Lancaster-Lebanon League boast nearly one half of the entries in the two classes of this year’s District 3 Boys’ Volleyball Championships.
Ten of the 22 qualifiers in the two classes are from those two leagues.
York and Berks have six teams each, but York is home to the two No. 1 seeds — Central York in Class AAA and Northeastern in Class AA.
L-L teams Hempfield and Penn Manor and Mid-Penn’s Cumberland Valley round out the top four seeds in the big class. The top four seeds earned a first-round bye and won’t play until May 19.
In Class AAA, Mid-Penn teams Lower Dauphin, Central Dauphin and Hershey will take on Wilson, Red Lion and Governor Mifflin, respectively, on May 15. Warwick of the L-L will take on Exeter Township in the other first-round game.
The top five seeds earned first-round byes in Class AA. Lancaster Mennonite and Garden Spot of the L-L won’t start until May 19. Cocalico, the only L-L team in action in the first round, will play Fleetwood.
