LITTLE LIONS ROARING: State College has played six games and is 5-0 in the Commonwealth. The Little Lions are 6-0 heading into their own holiday tournament on Friday. Coach Bethany Irwin’s bunch features the division’s leading scorer, dominating soph post Kyle Irwin, who had a pair of 25-point nights last week. Little Lions’ first two games out of the break: at Harrisburg and home with Cumberland Valley. Interesting.

CD, CV READY TO POUNCE: Reigning District 3-AAAA runner-up Central Dauphin and reigning PIAA-AAAA state runner-up Cumberland Valley — fresh off its 67-50 win on Monday over the state's top-ranked AAAA team, Wilson — are tied for second at 4-1. Rams have been rolling, with four wins in a row since falling to State College on the first night of division play on Dec. 10. CV has also rallied nicely after falling to CD East last Wednesday. Eagles steamrolled Carlisle and knocked off Altoona in a nonleague game on Saturday to pick up momentum. Go ahead and circle it now: CD at CV on Jan. 3. Be there.

INJURY WOES: Looks like CD East standout CaLee Gelbaugh, a Loyola (Md.) recruit, is going to be on the shelf for an extended amount of time after re-aggravating a previous injury last Friday vs. Harrisburg. Sister Michaela picked up the pace with 30 points in the victory over the Cougars. CD East still feeling mighty fine after knocking off previously unbeaten Cumberland Valley last Wednesday. We’ll see how coach Charley Harvey’s crew hangs in there without CaLee Gelbaugh.
