The Pennsylvania high school football regular season ends a week earlier out west and last night the WPIAL announced playoff pairings for Friday's first round games.
Instead of using a power ranking formula like District 3 does, the Pittsburgh-area schools gets together by committee and seeds the playoff participants NCAA college basketball-style.
The No. 1 seeds in each classification should be very familiar to Keystone State high school football fans: North Allegheny (AAAA), Thomas Jefferson (AAA), Aliquippa (AA) and Clairton (A).
