SHIPPENSBURG - Twice as nice for Mary Witmer.
Ephrata's senior standout successfully defended her District 3 Class AAA girls' 300 hurdles title Saturday morning - and she did so in record-smashing fashion.
Witmer got a clean - and fast - start and pulled away from the field at the top of the turn, clocking in with a 42.11 to win gold at Shippensburg University.
She won last year here in 43.80.
Witmer's 42.11 snapped the previous District 3 Class AAA girls' mark of 43.53, set by Harrisburg's Alysha Cook in 2008.
Witmer said she had a good feeling about the race; the weather was just right, and she said she thought she had a PR/district-record time in her.
She even painted her fingernails gold for the occasion.
Witmer met the media after winning the 300 hurdles. Take a look.
