HS boys' basketball: Picking winners in District 3-AA first round

As the Class AA portion of the District 3 boys' basketball tournament finally gets underway Wednesday night -- 10 teams qualified -- we have two games available for your viewing pleasure.

Wednesday night's winners will advance to the 3-AA quarterfinals, which are scheduled for the homes of the higher-seeded entries.

(9) Brandywine Heights (Berks, 7-14) at (8) Annville-Cleona (L-L, 4-18), 7 p.m.

*Winner's reward is a date with top-seeded and pre-tournament favorite Trinity on Saturday night. ... A-C has struggled mightily since the beginning of January -- A-C finished tied for fifth in L-L's six-team Section 4 -- as Justin Edwards' Little Dutchmen have dropped their last 13 outings. ... Ben Tannous' Bullets, who finished third in Berks III, closed the regular season by losing three of their last four. ... Neither side has played in two-plus weeks.

(10) Tulpehocken (Berks, 8-14) at (7) Hanover (YAIAA, 13-9), 7 p.m.
*Winner moves on to play Saturday night at reigning 3-AA champ Delone Catholic. ... Both sides collided with Antietam during the regular season. ... Kevin Quimby's Trojans split with the Mounts in Berks III play, prevailing at home and losing on the road. Nate Myers' Nighthawks banked an eight-point victory at home in December. ... Tulpy tied for fourth in Berks III. Hanover, meanwhile, finished third in YAIAA Division IV.
