DENVER - Hard to believe Kelly Liebl is just a sophmore.
You certainly wouldn't know it when she's on the basketball court, directing Ephrata's offense with crisp passes, running the fast-break with her head up, looking for an open teammate or weaving through traffic, through the lane and to the rim for a layup. Or the way she plays D; tenacious, pesky, all-out.
Liebl was all over the place Friday night.
Directing traffic on offense; making some terrific entry passes to Sarah Haddon (game-high 12 points) and Hannah Reimel (10 games) while contributing to the O herself with 9 points, including an early 3-pointer from the left wing, getting the Mounts cooking on their way to a 38-28 win over Cocalico.
The victory put Ephrata (12-3) in a first-place tie with Cocalico (12-3) in Section 2 with one league game to go on Tuesday.
Ephrata hosts Lebanon; Cocalico is at Solanco.
If they both win or both lose, there would be a 1-game playoff for the title.
If one team wins and the other loses, the winner gets the Section 2 crown.
You can bet Liebl, who started as Ephrata's point guard last winter as a freshman, will be all over the place in the Mounts' game vs. Lebanon.
Chatted with Liebl on Friday after Ephrata's win at Cocalico about the victory, about forcing a tie for first place, and what's ahead for her and the Mounts.
