Cami Boehner will score her fair share of points. After all, she is the No. 2 scorer in the midstate with 21.4 points per game.

Some games, the Gettysburg junior is scoring all the time. Other contests, she has an explosion at the opportune time.

The former occurred has happened a couple times in January, when she pumped in 33 points in a 56-40 win over Greencastle-Antrim on Jan. 18, and when she scored 41 points in a 75-53 triumph over James Buchanan on Jan. 22.

The later happened on Tuesday night, when Boehner scored 20 points, but 14 of them were in the last 17 minutes of a 46-41 win over Big Spring.

That win put the Warriors a half-game ahead of both Big Spring and Boiling Springs.

When did you start playing basketball?
I started playing when I was very little. My dad always seemed to let me have a basketball in my hands, even when it was larger than my head. I was dribbling or carrying the ball around while I was crawling.

Who would you consider to be your basketball mentor?
Coach [Casey] Thurston. She's gotten me on the right track, gotten me to know the most about the game. She has helped me develop as a player and as a person, and has given me guidance when I needed it.

What do you consider to be the best part of your game?
Over the past couple of years, my shooting, but I've been trying to expand my game. I want to be able to create shots for myself instead of being just a spot up shooter.

What aspect of your game do you think needs the most work?
My ball handling, because I haven't been forced to hold the ball that much, especially in the school leagues.

Does being a top scorer, and therefore the focus of the opponent's defense, make the game harder for you?
It makes it a lot more difficult because I'm not used to it. I'm not used to being the one they look for. But it made me a better player because I had to work harder, and than boosted my confidence.

Can you feel a difference early in a game, whether you are headed for a 20-point night or a 40-point night?
I think it happens naturally. I get a good feel iff I'm shooting well or what the defense is giving me scoring-wise. But I wouldn't say that I know it in advance.

When the game situation puts you in a position to go for 30 or more points, does that make the game easier or harder?
I wouldn't say it's harder, but in aspects it may look that way. My coach has helped me realize that shots don't have to forced, that they will come in time.
