Elco's chances at reaching the Lancaster-Lebanon League playoffs would go up dramatically if they can win at Northern Lebanon. - (DAVID BOHR, pennlive.com)

Snow on Friday and Monday have altered the schedules for almost every local girls' basketball team and have pushed some key games in the standings to the end of the season.

For example, the critical Mid-Penn Commonwealth Division matchup between Central Dauphin and Cumberland Valley that was to be on Monday will now be played on Tuesday, Feb. 5.

But there are still key games throughout the region this week.

Tuesday, January 29
Big Spring at Gettysburg: The first place team in the Mid-Penn Colonial will be visiting the second place team here. When they first met, the Bulldogs (12-6, 8-1) defeated the Warriors 46-40 on Jan. 4. But Gettysburg (13-4, 8-2) has kept the pressure on Big Spring ever since, winning five straight games, four of them in division play. Cami Boehner of Gettysburg is the No. 2 leading scorer in the midstate with 21.5 points per game, but Big Spring's Dalida Camdzic can also produce with a 14.7 average. Third place Boiling Springs (12-5, 7-2), which hosts Waynesboro this night, will be very interested in this result.

Elco at Northern Lebanon: In the Lancaster-Lebanon League, second place teams qualify for the league playoffs. This game will go a long way in determining the runner-up in L-L 3. The Vikings (13-6, 10-3) are currently in second, but the Raiders (11-8, 8-5) already own a 44-33 win over them from Jan. 4. Elco could get within a game and have the head-to-head tiebreaker in hand with a win. The Raiders' Cheyenne Hassler scores 16.2 points per game. As of their last game, a 47-38 win at Garden Spot on Jan. 24, the Vikings were still without starters Emily Brandt and Morgan Phillips.

Friday, February 1
Cumberland Valley at State College: Four teams still have a chance at the Commonwealth title, but the Little Lions (12-5, 8-3) need this win to have a chance. The Eagles (15-4, 10-2) do have a little margin for error, but a loss here would be the end of it. On Jan. 8, Cumberland Valley won a home game agaisnt State College 60-58. Another close game would be little surprise for the Eagles' fans. Cumberland Valley has two 2-point wins, one overtime victory and three 2-point losses this year. Kyla Irwin of State College is scoring 18.9 points per game, while Jackie Falconer has a 17.2 scoring average.

Trinity at Palmyra: The Shamrocks (10-6, 8-5) won't catch the Cougars (19-0, 13-0) for the Mid-Penn Keystone Division title. But Trinity did give Palmyra its closest game this season, a 64-58 battle on Jan. 7. Carly Richardson leads the Cougars with 16.2 points per game, while Briana Betz-White paces the Shamrocks with 13.9 points per game. Palmyra cannot get caught looking ahead to the Feb. 4 game at second-place Hershey (15-2, 12-1), which will be hosting Cedar Cliff this night.
