L-L League girls' basketball news and notes.

LANCASTER - L-L League girls' basketball items, including a look at the section races, with three games to go in the regular season.

SECTION 1: WHAT WE KNOW
* Manheim Township (13-0, 15-2) has won 45 league games in a row and has cinched at least a tie for the section title. The Blue Streaks have clinched a spot in the league playoffs.

* Hempfield (10-3, 14-4) has won seven games in a row and has clinched no worse than second place in the section, meaning the Knights and the Streaks will represent Section 1 in the league playoffs.

* Manheim Township finishes up at home vs. McCaskey, at home vs. Hempfield and at Warwick.

* Hempfield finishes up at Penn Manor, at Manheim Township and at home vs. McCaskey.

SECTION 2: WHAT WE KNOW
* Cocalico (11-2, 15-3) is alone in first place, a game ahead of Ephrata.

* Ephrata (10-3, 14-5) is alone in second place, a game behind Cocalico.

* Ephrata is at Cocalico on February 1; the Eagles on the first meeting 46-43 in Ephrata on January 7.

* Three-time reigning Section 2 champ Solanco (8-5, 11-8) is alone in third place, and is mathematically alive. However, the Golden Mares lost both head-to-head games vs. Ephrata, so the Mounts would win that tiebreaker should they end up in a second-place tie with Solanco. Cocalico lost its first meeting vs. Solanco, and finishes the regular season with a trip to Quarryville. So still plenty of work to be done here.

* Cocalico finishes up at home vs. Lebanon, at home vs. Ephrata and at Solanco.

* Ephrata finishes up at Conestoga Valley, at Cocalico and home vs. Lebanon.

* Solanco finishes up at Elizabethtown, at Conestoga Valley and home vs. Cocalico.

SECTION 3: WHAT WE KNOW
* Lampeter-Strasburg (12-1, 17-1) is alone in first place with a cozy 2-game lead over Northern Lebanon (10-3, 13-6). The Pioneers can clinch at least a tie for the section crown with a win Tuesday at Manheim Central, and L-S can clinch the section crown outright with a win Tuesday at Manheim Central and if Northern Lebanon loses at home vs. Elco.

* Elco (8-5, 11-8) is alone in third, two games behind Northern Lebanon. But the Raiders are still alive, and need a victory over the Vikings on Tuesday to stay in the race. Elco beat Northern Lebanon 44-33 in their first meeting on January 4. Still a lot on the table here.

* L-S finishes up at Manheim Central, at Garden Spot and at home vs. Northern Lebanon.

* Northern Lebanon finishes up at home vs. Elco, at home vs. Donegal and at L-S.

* Elco finishes up at Northern Lebanon, at Manheim Central and at home vs. Donegal.

SECTION 4: WHAT WE KNOW
* Lancaster Catholic (13-0, 18-0) successfully defended its Section 4 championship, and will go for back-to-back league titles starting in two weeks.

* Annville-Cleona (8-5, 11-8) has clinched at least a tie for second place; Little Dutchmen are three games clear of Lebanon Catholic (5-8, 13-6), and will clinch second place - and the L-L League playoff spot - with one more win. Lebanon Catholic beat Annville-Cleona 47-42 on January 4.

* Lancaster Catholic finishes up at home vs. Pequea Valley, at home vs. Columbia and at Lancaster Mennonite (and has a non-league game vs. Eastern York in there).

* Annville-Cleona finishes up at home vs. Lancaster Mennonite, at home vs. Lebanon Catholic (remember the head-to-head tiebreaker if things get sticky) and at Columbia.

* Lebanon Catholic finishes up at home vs. Columbia, at Annville-Cleona and at home vs. Pequea Valley.

Random items ...

SHOT-SWATTER: Cocalico has a major weapon in the paint in Kristen Boyer. The Eagles' volleyball standout has carried over her leaping skills to the basketball court. Boyer has 40-plus blocks this season and averages 2 swats per game. She's a key cog on a Cocalico team enjoying a breakout season under coach Tony DiMatteo.

SCHEDULE CHANGE: Elizabethtown vs. Solanco has been moved from Tuesday to Wednesday, at 8 p.m., this week. Solanco is hosting a District 3 wrestling team tournament match on Tuesday, so the school's decided to push back their boys' and girls' basketball games to Wednesday. The boys' game will also be played Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. at Solanco.
