A long trip to Meadville High School was worthwhile for the Boiling Springs wrestling team.

Not only did the Bubblers face stiff competition, Rod Wright's crew made plenty of noise with a third-place team finish and crowed a pair of champions.

Korbin Myers (113) had the toughest road, beating talented Cathedral Prep ace Jake Gromacki in the finals. Myers, a runner-up at states a year ago, was named Outstanding Wrestler.

Grand Bond continued his solid sophomore campaign with a win at 120. He decked Erie McDowell's Paul Dietz 8-2.

The Bubblers, who placed third in the team standings, were vying for a third title at 126, but Kyle Shoop was forced to injury default after suffering a shoulder injury during the semifinals.

Shoop is day-to-day but is planning on wrestling in Wednesday home match against Biglerville.

John Vaughn (152) placed fourth, while Nate Gouhin (195) was fifth. Andrew Mellott (132) and Calvin Barrick (220) placed sixth.

General McLane won the team title with 203.5. Dubois was second with 171 points, and the Bubbles were third with 165.
