BOYS' BASKETBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK (Dec. 24-30)

Kellen Williams, 6-1 senior guard/forward, Chambersburg

About Williams: Football season officially behind him, the gritty Trojans gamer proved he's clearly in basketball mode with a pair of terrific games and tournament MVP honors at Gettysburg last week.

In the tournament opener Wednesday night against the host Warriors, a team previously unbeaten, Williams erupted for 21 points and 15 rebounds in the Trojans' 64-58 victory. Included was a flash of seven straight points to answer a 10-0 second-half surge by Gettysburg. Williams sank four straight free throws, then drilled a deep 3-pointer on Chambersburg's next possession, to restore order and put coach Beau Gantz's team back in control.

In the title game against a talented Delone Catholic club, Williams secured his MVP honors by totaling 20 points and six rebounds in a 60-54 triumph. Again, his effort was clutch. His jumper tied the game shortly after the Squires briefly went ahead in the fourth quarter.

Williams was the lone junior on a senior-dominated Patriot-News Big 15 1st-team squad from last year, and with his help the Trojans (6-3) carry a three-game winning streak into 2013.

Dominick Antonelli, Trinity -- MVP of the East Pennsboro tournament, scoring 14 in victory over the host Lions, then following with 22 in the championship win against Cumberland Valley.
