Lancaster-Lebanon League boys' basketball Thursday round-up: Ephrata, Donegal set up Mountaineers' holiday tournament final showdown

Donegal improved to 8-0 Thursday with a win over Dallastown.

LANCASTER - One boys’ holiday tournament on Thursday night produced an all-L-L League championship match-up.
Host Ephrata knocked off Spring Grove 68-58 in the nightcap of the Mountaineers’ first-round holiday tourney games on Thursday.
Ephrata’s post-Christmas present: A match-up against undefeated Donegal, which improved to 8-0 on Thursday compliments of a 68-52 win over Dallastown.
Ephrata vs. Donegal is Friday at 8 p.m. at Ephrata Middle School - right after the host Mounts take on undefeated Lampeter-Strasburg in the girls’ holiday tourney title game.

EPHRATA HOLIDAY TOURNAMENT
Donegal 68, Dallastown 52 - Jason Dietrich scored 20 points, and the Indians zoomed to a 41-20 halftime lead and advanced to Friday’s title game vs. the host Mounts. Martin Dietrich added 16 points and Michael Banwell had a dozen points for Donegal, which is the only undefeated boys’ team in the L-L League.
Ephrata 68, Spring Grove 58 - Evan Radcliffe pumped in 23 points, and the Mounts led 37-30 at the half, and opened up some breathing room with an 18-9 third-quarter run and advanced to Friday’s title game vs. unbeaten Donegal. Aaron Hubbard chipped in with 14 points and Brad Sipe scored 10 points for Ephrata.
CEDAR CREST HOLIDAY TOURNAMENT
Cedar Crest 60, Conrad Weiser 48 - The Falcons placed four players in double figures, and closed the game with a 23-10 blitz to knock off the Scouts and advance to Friday’s championship game. Andrew Eudy and Killian Klopp scored 13 points apiece, Clay Penchard pitched in with 11 points and Evan Horn scored 10 points for Cedar Crest.
HEMPFIELD HOLIDAY TOURNAMENT
Hempfield 59, West Chester Bayard Rustin 49 - Dylan Bleacher scored a season-high 14 points, and the host Black Knights outscored Rustin 26-16 over the middle two quarters and rolled into Friday’s title game. Drew Johnson added 12 points and Tyrell Wickersham had 10 points for Hempfield, which made its 30-20 halftime lead stand up.
WEST YORK HOLIDAY TOURNAMENT
Central Dauphin East  57, Manheim Township 54 - Anthony Wright scored 21 points for CD East, which outscored the Blue Streaks 15-9 in the third quarter to take the lead, and then held off Manheim Township’s fourth-quarter 20-10 run. Seth Brewer scored 21 points for the Streaks, who were playing minus starting guard Tyler Karpinski, who is playing the Chesapeake Bowl football game this weekend.
McCASKEY HOLIDAY TOURNAMENT
McCaskey 87, Carver Engineering & Science 50 - Diante Cherry scored 17 points, and the host Red Tornado pulled away for good with a 23-8 third-quarter clip and advanced to Friday’s title game. Devonne Pinkard added 15 points and Aaron Swinton scored 12 points for McCaskey, which won its sixth game in a row.
WARWICK HOLIDAY TOURNAMENT
Lancaster Catholic 61, Wilson 58 - Eric Goldbach scored 15 points, and the Crusaders dodged a bullet when the Bulldogs misfired on a potential game-tying 3-point attempt at the buzzer. Omar Lopez added 14 points for Lancaster Catholic, which will take on Upper Darby in Friday’s championship game.
Upper Darby 38, Warwick 37 - The host Warriors led 12-8 early and 15-13 at the half, but couldn’t hold, as Warwick was relegated to Friday’s third-place game opposite Wilson. Matt Engle scored a game-high 16 points for the Warriors.
ELIZABETHTOWN HOLIDAY TOURNAMENT
Allentown Central Catholic 78, Columbia 50 - Nick Nobile returned from a wrist injury suffered during football season and scored 8 points in his season debut for the Crimson Tide. But ACC bolted to a 36-25 lead at the break, and then outscored Columbia 42-25 in the second half. Will Kreiser scored 12 points for Columbia, which will take on host Elizabethtown on Saturday. The Bears play ACC on Friday - with just three teams playing a round-robin in this tourney.
ERIE McDOWELL HOLIDAY TOURNAMENT
Eric McDowell 72, Lampeter-Strasburg 56 - Jake Sweger pumped in a season-high 29 points for the Pioneers, but it wasn’t enough, as L-S couldn’t dig out of an early 22-11 hole and dropped a first-round game in Erie. J.D. Achille added 11 points for the Pioneers, who trailed 36-22 at the half before making a 22-11 charge in the third quarter.
SHIPPENSBURG HOLIDAY TOURNAMENT
Shippensburg 56, Annville-Cleona 40 - Tyrell Kater scored 12 points to pace a balanced attack for host Shippensburg, which raced out to a 27-12 lead at the half and sailed past the Little Dutchmen, who were relegated to Friday’s consolation-round game. Paxson Hayes and Casey Smith scored 12 points apiece for A-C.
EAST PENNSBORO HOLIDAY TOURNAMENT
Cumberland Valley 72, Lancaster Mennonite 57 - Gary Kline popped in a game-high 20 points, and the Eagles closed the game with a 26-9 fourth-quarter spree and topped the Blazers. Matt Hess (17 points), Julian Collazo (14 points) and Darris Bair (11 points) led Lancaster Mennonite, which will play in Friday’s third-place game.
FLEETWOOD HOLIDAY TOURNAMENT
Pequea Valley 55, Brandywine Heights 53 - The Braves snapped a 5-game losing skid in fine fashion, outscoring Brandywine Heights 7-5 in overtime and clinched a spot in Friday’s title game. Brian Lindquist matched his season-high with 22 points and Kevin Lockard added 12 points for PV.
NON-LEAGUE
Cocalico 46, Twin Valley 22 - Oliver Denlinger scored a game-high 10 points, and the host Eagles held Twin Valley scoreless in the second quarter, and allowed just 1 third-quarter point in a runaway win. Cocalico outscored Twin Valley 33-14 in the second half to ice the game.
