Here's our first District 3-AA boys' basketball rankings for the 2012-13 season. This has nothing to do with power ratings. It's just our view of the top 5.
1. Lebanon Catholic (6-2) -- Good preseason bet was Beavers were back, BIG TIME, on the 3-A scene, and a stellar start, which includes only an overtime loss to Lampeter-Strasburg and another to unbeaten Donegal, is proving it.
2. Greenwood (5-2) -- Defending champs have rattled off five straight since dropping two in tip-off tournament. Nice wins over Upper Dauphin, Lancaster County Christian.
3. Covenant Christian (2-0) -- Back-loaded schedule, necessary because of building-a-new-school/gym issues, means a very busy month is soon to follow a slim start that includes solid victory over Harrisburg Christian.
4. Antietam (5-2) -- Runners-up a year ago, the Mounts have already plowed through 3-A foes Harrisburg Christian, Millersburg and Mount Calvary. Losses to bigger schools.
5. Mount Calvary (6-1) -- Aside from tough loss to Antietam and last week's win over improved Hershey Christian, tough to really tell a lot about these Chargers.

Notes:Lancaster County Christian (3-3), with non-league losses so far to Lebanon Catholic, Harrisburg Christian and Greenwood, will absolutely dominate an otherwise very down CCAC East. ... Bible Baptist (4-3) and Harrisburg Christian (3-3) will be players in the very competitive CCAC West. ... Despite slow start, can't really count Millersburg (2-4) out. ... From the shadows come Harrisburg Academy (6-1), currently riding a six-game winning streak, and High Point Baptist (5-2), whose only loss to a Pennsylvania foe is five-point setback at Wyomissing.
