Michaela Gelbaugh’s coast-to-coach layup at the end of regulation sent CD East into overtime and made possible the Panthers’ 62-56 girls’ basketball win over Upper Dublin in the opening round of the Upper Darby Tournament.
CaLee Gelbaugh, who was inadvertently omitted from the Patriot-News’ players to watch in Thursday’s edition, led all players with 24 points.
The Panthers were down by as many as 12 points in the third period.
Regan Gallagher paced Upper Dublin with 24 points.
CD East will play the winner of the Upper Dublin - St. Hubert Catholic game in Saturday’s final. The score of that game was not reported in to the Patriot-News.
Northern York Tournament: Bermudian Springs outscored the host Polar Bears 14-7 in the fourth quarter to open the season with a win. Shannon Kuhn had 12 points for the Eagles, while Sara Yunez had 10 for Northern. ... After scoring just two points in the first period, Dover scored 23 in the fourth for a 51-46 win over Hershey. Libby Nolan had 23 points and 13 rebounds in defeat for the Trojans.
Muhlenberg Tournament: Lower Dauphin played in foul trouble most of the way in a 38-34 loss to Boyertown. Taryn Messick scored 11 for the Falcons.
Red Lion Tournament: Manheim Twp. broke out to a 23-5 lead after the first quarter and went on to a 57-26 win over Boiling Springs. Cecile Crowley scored 11 for the Bubblers.
Northern Lebanon Tournament: Palmyra’s Carly Richardson had 16 points to lead the Cougars over Lebanon 59-19. Maria Tukis and Kait Carmo added 11 points in the win. ... Pine Grove got separation late in a 47-33 win over Northern Lebanon. Emily Brandt had 10 points for the Vikings.
Columbia Tournament: Steel-High scored 31 points in each of the first two quarters in a 101-14 win over New Hope Academy. Malia Tate-Defreitas scored 35 points.
Mifflin County Tournament: Mifflin County was up 35-2 after the first period and defeated Southern Huntingdon 87-16. Olivia Halfpenny led Mifflin County with 19 points.
Cedar Crest Tournament: Jackie Falconer scored 24 points as Cumberland Valley cruised over Cedar Crest 62-29.
Hempfield Tournament: The Black Knights outscored the Thundering Herd in each quarter to post a 64-42 win. Megan Bisker led Carlisle with 26 points.
Elizabethtown Tournament: Susuehannock outscored Annville-Cleona 21-11 in the second period and 20-4 in the third for a 70-32 win.
Camp Hill Tournament: Addie Guyer scored six of her 17 points in the fourth quarter, and Leah Springer led Camp Hill with 19 points, as the Lions defeated Upper Dauphin 66-55. Katie Schwenk had 22 for the Trojans.
Line Mt. Tournament: Jade London scored 16 points and Sara Lahr added 15 as Line Mt. edged Millville 60-57.
Harrisburg Christian Tournament: Macaela Campbell scored nine points to lead Harrisburg Christian to a 30-22 win over Bible Baptist of York.
Harrisburg Tournament: Briana Mack led the Cougars with 22 points as Harrisburg started its season with a 55-23 win over Imhotep Charter.
Spring Grove Tournament: Despite 16 points by Hannah Brown, Mechanicsburg fell to Spring Grove 53-50.
Big Spring Tournament: East Pennsboro was 11-for-14 from the free throw line to hold on to a 51-43 win over Big Spring. Kailee Yoder scored 13 points for the Panthers, while Danielle Kepner had 12 for the Bulldogs.
New Oxford Tournament: Gettysburg downed York Suburban 40-39 with 15 point from Cami Boehner and 10 from Arianna Camel.
