The skinny: Washington is making a claim for the top spot after upstaging South Fayette 26-14 a week ago. The prize is a WPIAL finals appearance with No. 1 Aliquippa, who did little Friday but slam former No. 7 Jeannette 56-0. The Jayhawks were not alone as Grove City and Catasauqua exited the postseason with losses to No. 5 Hickory and Pen Argyl, our new No. 8. ... The lone District 6 representative, undefeated Richland, decided to hang around by dropping Tyrone 43-22. ... There are some that believe Bermudian Springs warrants to Top 10 spot after its 12-0 start. Well, the Eagles will not be denied if they trump No. 3 Wyomissing this week in the District 3-AA championship.
