It’s been an amazing two-year ride for Cumberland Valley’s girls’ basketball team.
Two seasons ago, coach Bill Wolf’s club reached the PIAA-AAAA state championship game, falling to Spring-Ford in the finale.
This past season, the Eagles won the Mid-Penn Commonwealth title, the Mid-Penn conference tournament and earned a rematch against Spring-Ford in the PIAA finale.
And this time, CV delivered, getting some payback against the Rams with a 49-30 victory — and PIAA gold to cap a 28-5 season.
It was CV’s second state championship, and the Eagles finished the season No. 1 in PennLive's state rankings.
Eagles’ players Maddie Torresin and Kelly Jekot were rewarded with all-state honors, and Torresin, Jekot, Jen Falconer, Taylor Sneidman and Meghan Rhoades were PennLive Big 15 selections.
Wolf, who also led Central Dauphin to state championship in his career, was named Class AAAA Coach of the Year.
On Wednesday, the Eagles’ players and coaching staff were honored at the State Capitol, where they were introduced before the House and Senate.
