THE PANTHERS: Does the Schuylkill Valley Revenge Tour continue this weekend? In the AA quarterfinals last week, the Panthers, who finished third in Berks II behind champ Wyo, upended second-place Berks Catholic 42-21 behind 223 yards, four passing and two rushing TDs by QB Kyle Beissel (11) to reverse a regular-season outcome. And it was just Week 9 when SV lost a four-point battle vs. Wyomissing.
THE SPARTANS: Led by LB/RB Alex Anzalone (24), the Notre Dame recruit who’s rushed for a team-high 919 rushing yards, including 100+ yards last week vs. Littlestown on just seven carries, this perennial powerhouse will make you earn the upset victory. But, keep in mind, the Spartans were significantly outgained (480-352) and needed a late Anzalone TD surge to beat SV 37-33 three weeks ago.
MORROW SAYS: A lot of folks are thinking upset, but we’re thinking the recent scare will have Bob Wolfrum’s Wyomissing (-5) side plenty ready.
