HS boys' volleyball: Results, news and top performances for April 15

Tuesday night is Round 1 for the Mid-Penn Commonwealth boys’ volleyball title.

Cumberland Valley heads to Central Dauphin in a clash of unbeaten teams.

The Rams are coming off a successful outing in the Central York tournament, where they knocked off last year’s state champion and runner-up before falling to the defending District 3-AAA champion.

This is the first meeting between the teams. They will meet again May 8 at CV.

MID-PENN COMMONWEALTHStandings

Chambersburg 3, State College 1: The Trojans evened their Mid-Penn Commonwealth and overall records with the 25-21, 25-23, 12-25, 25-16 win on the road. State College fell to 2-3 in the division behind the 14-kill performance of Deniz Demirci. Noah Christie handed out 33 assists in the loss. » Box Score

Carlisle 3, CD East 0: Carlisle pulled into a tie for third in the Mid-Penn Commonwealth with the 25-15, 25-22, 25-22 win at CD East, which was led by eight kills each from Zack Leitzel and Dan Cronen. Cameron Kramer recorded 23 assists. » Box Score

Cumberland Valley 3, Central Dauphin 1: The visiting Eagles took over the top spot in the Mid-Penn Commonwealth at 4-0 with the 27-25, 18-25, 26-24, 25-19 win at Central Dauphin. Michael Fisher led the Eagles with 28 kills and Eli Plasterer had 42 assists and six digs. Anmol Pannu added two aces and 13 digs as the Eagles improved to 6-0 overall. MID-PENN KEYSTONEStandings

Lower Dauphin 3, Red Land 0: Colten Nagy blasted 11 kills and three assist to lead Lower Dauphin’s offense in the 25-11, 25-8, 25-23 win at home. The Falcons remain perfect in the Mid-Penn Keystone at 3-0 and are 8-1 overall. John Wenger and Craig Zemitis handled the setting duties with 17 and 13 assists, respectively. Hershey 3, Northern York 0: Hershey improved to 4-1 in the Keystone with the 25-9, 25-21, 25-20 win. The Trojans were led by Cole Carver’s 10 kills and six blocks. Dylan D’Amour had 24 assists and seven digs for Hershey and Dan Reeves served up six aces. » Box Score

Mechanicsburg 3, Cedar Cliff 0: Quay San led Mechanicsburg to the 26-24, 25-22, 25-16 win with 15 kills. Ian Capp had 25 assists and James Domen served four aces to help Mechanicsburg improve to 2-1 in the Mid-Penn Keystone. Cedar Cliff, which falls to 1-3, was led by Brian Atwood’s eight kills and 2.5 blocks. » Box Score


LANCASTER-LEBANON SECTION 1Standings

Hempfield 3, Manheim Twp. 0: Hempfield remained perfect in L-L Section 1 and overall with the 25-10, 25-11, 25-8 win at home. Chris Booth led the offense with 10 kills and Ben Naumann led the defense with eight digs. Sam Prescott dished out 26 assists and Matt Lawrence had four aces for the defending District 3-AAA champs. » Box Score

Ephrata 3, McCaskey 0: Nick Farlow recorded 15 kills and three aces as Ephrata improved to 3-3 in L-L Section 1 with the 25-14, 25-21, 25-8 win at home. Colt Wilwerth had 15 blocks and 15 digs and Alex Modrzecki had 25 assists for Ephrata. McCaskey was led by Jamie Rodriguez’s five kills. » Box Score

Penn Manor 3, Warwick 1: Penn Manor stayed in the hunt for the Lancaster-Lebanon Section 1 title with a 25-20, 23-25, 25-23, 25-23 win over Warwick on the road. The win puts Penn Manor one game behind Hempfield in the division. Sam Greenslade led Penn Manor with 20 kills and Griffin Sangrey picked up 20 digs. Warwick was led by Zach Gingrich’s 10 kills and Bryce Workman’s 19 digs. » Box Score

LANCASTER-LEBANON SECTION 2Standings

Garden Spot 3, Conestoga Valley 0: Garden Spot continued its perfect season with the 25-22, 25-17, 25-11 win on the road. Micah Hostetler dished out 33 assists to fuel the offense, and Matthew High connected for 16 kills. Joshua Stoltzfus picked up 13 digs. Conestoga Valley was led by Andrew Barton’s six kills and Justin Gorsuch’s 14 assists. » Box Score

Lancaster Mennonite 3, Elizabethtown 0: Zachary Alderman recorded 10 kills and three aces to lead Lancaster Mennonite to the 25-18, 25-13, 25-22 win on the road. Garyd Martin had 19 assists and Eric Weaver picked up 16 digs in the win that helps Mennonite keep pace with division leader Garden Spot. Elizabethtown was led by Aidan Maghan’s 10 kills, Craig Miller’s 13 assists and Ethan Cleis’ 16 digs. » Box Score

Manheim Central 3, Lebanon 0: Manheim Central improved to 3-3 in the division with the 25-17, 25-14, 25-17 home win. Tucker Ford recorded 11 kills, two aces and three digs to lead Central. Micah Hershberger had 30 assists and Levi Adair recorded two blocks in the win. Cory Remlinger led Lebanon with nine kills and Connor Keath handed out 14 assists. » Box Score
