DISTRICT 3 BASEBALL RANKINGS
CLASS AAAA
1. Spring Grove (7-2)
2. Chambersburg (6-3)
3. Lower Dauphin (5-2)
4. Waynesboro (7-1)
5. Governor Mifflin (6-3)
On the fence: Carlisle (6-3), Cumberland Valley (4-2), Reading (7-2), Solanco (6-3)
Pinch hits: Let's face it, Spring Grove's weekend victory over No. 3 Lower Dauphin was a big feather, and the rankings reflect current form. That's the plan, anyway. Still, we can't recall a more wide-open big-school class. Let the games begin.
CLASS AAA
1. West York (8-0)
2. Donegal (7-2)
3. Hamburg (8-1)
4. Susquehannock (7-1)
5. West Perry (6-2)
On the fence: Conrad Weiser (6-1), Manheim Central (6-2), Oley Valley (7-3)
Pinch hits: We have a feeling that our initial Top 5 is going to radically change each week. Always dangerous West York is the last Class AAA unbeaten, but the truth is about a dozen programs are capable of making a run at the top spot. All teams above were D3 qualifiers a season ago.
CLASS AA
1. Delone Catholic (7-1)
2. Susquenita (7-1)
3. Berks Catholic (5-4)
4. Camp Hill (5-2)
5. Upper Dauphin (4-0)
On the fence: Tulpehocken (4-4), Trinity (4-2)
Pinch hits: You have to appreciate what the top-ranked Squires and No. 2 Blackhawks have done so far. Delone Catholic might have dropped a hard-fought 8-7 game to Waynesboro recently, but the Squires already have built a wide lead in YAIAA Division IV play. Susquenita avenged an early-season loss to West Perry in the Perry County Tournament and have won seven straight.
CLASS A
1. Millersburg (3-3)
2. York Catholic (3-5)
3. Mount Calvary (4-3)
4. Lancaster County Christian (3-1)
5. Antietam (3-5)
On the fence: High Point Baptist (4-1)
Pinch hits: Why not the Tribe? Not only did Millersburg bounce back after consecutive losses Schuylkill Haven and Williams Valley, the Indians claimed a big win over East Juniata and narrowly lost to perennial Tri-Valley League favorite Upper Dauphin. … Lancaster County Christian will clash with No. 3 Mount Calvary and No. 5 Antietam this week.
