LANDISVILLE — Coatesville produced three individual winners and a pair of winning relay teams on Saturday on the way to piling up 125 points for the boys’ team title in the 12th Black Knight Invitational.

Carlisle, with 99 points, took second, ahead of a pair of L-L League outfits: Conestoga Valley (72) was third, just ahead of host Hempfield (71).

POSTING A RECORD

Conestoga Valley senior Chance Post turned in perhaps the best individual performance of the day, setting a meet record in the 300 hurdles with a blazing, eye-popping 37.89.

That’s a PR for Post, who will compete in the hurdles in the Penn Relays later this month; he’s one of the top 300 hurdlers in the country — and he put on quite a show Saturday, also taking gold in the 110 hurdles in 14.45.

JHET-ING TO A WIN

Good news and bad news for Cocalico senior javelin ace Jhet Janis.

Good: Janis, an Oregon recruit who has already gone 200-plus this season, uncorked a 191-1 on his first throw of the day, which ended up earning him the gold.

Bad: After Janis’ second throw in prelims, he huddled with Cocalico throwing coach Scott Krall and decided to shut it down after experiencing some groin discomfort.

Janis said it wasn’t a big deal, and that he probably could have continued, but didn’t want to risk it — not with another invite next weekend, and the Penn Relays later in the month. Not to mention the L-L, District 3 and PIAA meets all creeping up.

Here's video of Janis' winning 191-1 throw on Saturday:

ZACH ATTACK

Big day for Carlisle’s Zach Brehm, who won a pair of golds under bright sunshine and the highest temps of the track and field season to date.

Brehm hit the line first in the 800 in 1:59.29 and he clocked in with a 4:27.66 to win the 1,600 and earn double golds.

Brehm is the reigning PIAA-AAA 800 champ.

BUCKSKIN JUMPERS SHINE

Two Conestoga Valley leapers won gold medals Saturday:

Justus Norman soared 22-0 ½ to capture the long jump crown.

And Darion Whitfield took triple jump honors with a 42-10 ½, helping the Buckskins to a third-place finish in a really nice field.

DISC JOCKEY

Warwick’s David Lucas romped to the discus title with a 170-6 heave, well past runner-up Darrick Muroski from Coatesville, whose best was a 158-6.

Muroski won the shot put (54-5), helping Coatesville win the team title.

Lucas will compete in the Penn Relays later this month.

MINT FOR MINTO

Hershey’s Stephen Minto soared to pole vault gold, clearing 14-8, well ahead of runner-up Zach Martin from Conestoga Valley, who went 13-3.

GOLDEN BERRY

Big win for Solanco’s Troy Berry, who cleared 6-7 to win high jump honors — a full three inches clear of runner-up Adam Karl from Hempfield.

DASH MASTERS

Carlisle’s Isa Paschall clocked an 11.28 to win the 100, and Hempfield’s Darnell Lathon hit the line in 50.99 to win the 400, as sprinters finally had a warm day to break a big sweat and run.

RELAY WINNERS

Coatesville had a pair of wins, taking the 4x1 and 4x4, while Avon Grove won the 4x8, edging out Carlisle at the line.
