Solanco's Thomas Haines was bombarded with the same question in different forms from the moment he stepped on the mat for his senior season.
“Have you thought about being a four-time state champion?” It comes with the territory when you are a three-time champ entering your senior year.
But Haines never buckled or got nervous. He didn't stumble on the mat or off. He never let down or got complacent and finished off his career as the 12th wrestler in state history to become a four-time champ.
For Haines' march, PennLive is naming the Mules standout as the Big 15 Wrestling All-Star team's Outstanding Wrestler.
The impressive part about Haines' romp is that it came in a different weight class. He bumped up to heavyweight in preparation for his college career at Ohio State and had no equal, finishing with a 42-0 mark.
Haines won titles at the Beast of the East, Powerade and Escape the Rock tournaments. He finished his career with a record of 174-5.
