Former Hempfield girls' soccer coach Keith Nagley has been named to the same position at Conestoga Valley.
Nagley replaces Pete Shellenberger, who stepped down earlier this winter.
Conestoga Valley sent out a release Tuesday afternoon announcing Nagley was taking over the Buckskins' program:
Conestoga Valley named a Lancaster-Lebanon League veteran as its new head girls' soccer coach.
Former Hempfield head coach Keith Nagley will take the reins of a Buckskins' program that has won the last two Section 1 titles.
The CV school board approved his appointment during its meeting Monday.
Nagley led the Black Knights from 2002-2012, compiling a career record of 175-50-20. His teams won five section titles, four league titles, one District 3 championship (2006) and appeared in the PIAA state championship twice (2006 and 2009).
The three-time Section 1 Coach of the Year was an assistant on Hempfield’s 2000 state-championship team.
Nagley is a social studies teacher at Centerville Middle School.
“Keith has a strong pedigree teaching in the classroom and coaching on the pitch,” CV athletic director Zac Kraft said in the release. “Combined with his proven track record of success at Hempfield, Keith will be a nice addition to the CV girls' soccer program.”
Nagley stepped down from Hempfield following the 2012 season, saying at the time he intended to return to coaching at some point in the future.
“This is a great opportunity to coach one of the best programs in the L-L League,” Nagley said in the release. “I am very excited to be the new coach at CV and be a part of the CV community.”
Nagley, who recently served as an assistant coach at Lampeter-Strasburg, inherits a CV program that reached new heights under former coach Pete Shellenberger, who was 95-32-6 in six seasons.
