Kittanning senior 145-pounder Jason Nolf made short work of first-round opponent Mason Angstadt of Bethlehem Catholic at the PIAA wrestling championships. He pinned Angstadt midway through the second period to advance to Friday morning’s quarterfinal round.

Nolf stayed in control throughout his tournament opener, scoring an impressive takedown off a counter in the first period and turning Angstadt to his back twice. He was dominant from top position and got the whistle at the 3:20 mark in the second period.

For Nolf, a Penn State recruit who improved to 41-0 this season, the pin put him on a path to his third PIAA state championship. He won as a freshman in 2011 and against last season as a junior at 132 pounds.

Nolf takes on Brookville’s Zach Vroman, a 5-1 winner over Bloomsburg’s Sam Miller, in the quarterfinals.
