It's Bethlehem Catholic and everyone else in the top half of the Class AA bracket, but that doesn't mean there aren't good matches to watch.
If Burrell gets by Hamburg, they will likely meet Brookville in the quarterfinals. The Bucs downed the Raiders by three points during the regular season.
Fort LeBoeuf always brings it's A-game to states and hopes to contend with the three-time defending champion Golden Hawks on Friday.
Here is a look at the top half of the bracket in Class AA.
Burrell (11-3)
Mascot: Bucs. Coach: Josh Shields. PIAA Team Championship appearance: Eleventh.
How they got here: Beat South Fayette 34-28 in the District 7 Championship.
Wrestlers to watch: Anthony Marra (126), Dillan Jeffery (113), John Andrejcik (132), Corey Falleroni (145), Steve Edwards (152), Allan Beattie (285).
Skinny: Only Reynolds has made more state dual-meet championship appearances than the Bucs. There isn't a lot of star power or wrestlers with fat records this season, but that doesn't mean Shields' bunch should be overlooked. The Bucs, ranked seventh in the state, have a winning tradition and are 19-14 at states, always a tough out under Giant Center's bright lights.
Hamburg (17-3)
Mascot: Hawks. Coach: Derek Sola. PIAA Team Championship appearance: First.
How they got here: Beat Northern Lebanon 44-23 in the District 3 semifinals before losing to Boiling Springs 47-15 in the finals. Beat West Branch 34-33 in the pigtail round.
Wrestlers to watch: Sean Stanish (120), Chris Kummerer (132), Cody Miller (182), Austin Bashore (195), Blake Roberts (285).
Skinny: A favorable bracket put Hamburg in states instead of District 3 power Bermudian Springs, but that doesn't mean the Hawks are a pushover. Kummerer and Miller are the real deal — they are a combined 61-4 — and the Hawks have a quality win over Class AAA state entry Exeter. Look for Sola's team to push the Bucs.
Brookville (19-2)
Mascot: Raiders. Coach: Dave Klepfer. PIAA Team Championship appearance: Sixth.
How they got here: Beat defending District 9 champion Redbank Valley 39-26 in the championship match.
Wrestlers to watch: Gavin Park (106), Taylor Ortiz (113), Cole Aaron (120), Dalton Zimmerman (132), Brock Zacheri (138), Zach Vronman (152), Brodie Zacheri (160).
Skinny: This group just sounds tough. A blue-collar team ranked third in the state, the Raiders come after their opponents and employ an in-your-face style. Brock Zacheri is ranked No. 1 in the state and anchors a group that has only two setbacks, a loss to Class AAA Canon-McMillan and a three-point loss to a deep Burrell team. They should meet again in Friday's quarterfinal round.
Western Wayne (14-12)
Mascot: Wildcats. Coach: Dante Terenzio. PIAA Team Championship appearance: Fourth.
How they got here: Sneaked by Lake-Lehman 40-36 in the District 2 championship.
Wrestlers to watch: Morgan Fuller (138), Austin Swoyer (220).
Skinny: No doubt you are doing a double-take at the Wildcats win-loss record, but it's mostly because of the schedule. Terenzio's crew took on all comers, including Pen Argyl, Parkland and Exeter, to name a few. The Wildcats, who are 0-6 in state matches, won't be intimidated, especially 30-match winner Morgan Fuller and Swoyer, but it will be tough sledding against Brookville.
Bethlehem Catholic (12-0)
Mascot: Golden Hawks. Coach: Jeff Karam. PIAA Team Championship appearance: Fifth.
How they got here: Destroyed last two District 11 tourney opponents Northern Lehigh and Saucon Valley by a combined total of 138-6.
Wrestlers to watch: Jake Riegel (106), Luke Karam (113), Joey Gould (120), Zeke Moisey (126), Stephen Maloney (132), Michael Labriola (138), Mason Angstadt (145), Nick Cortopassi (170), Jose Ortiz (182), Andrew Dunn (220).
Skinny: Earlier we said how Franklin Regional was the clear-cut favorite on the Class AAA side. Well, the same can be said of the Golden Hawks, three-time defending state champs. This roster is stuffed with 10 state-ranked wrestlers, including Zeke Moisey, who has looked as good as anyone except for maybe Jason Nolf. Unless the bus has a flat tire, this team will be celebrating another title come Saturday.
Lower Moreland (20-11)
Mascot: Lions. Coach: John Oberholtzer. PIAA Team Championship appearance: Fourth.
How they got here: Escaped Bishop McDevitt (Wyncote) 34-26 to capture District 1 championship.
Wrestlers to watch: Jimmy McGuigan (113), Max Pylayev (170), Patrick Giordano (182).
Skinny: After dropping four straight from mid-to-late January, the Lions rattled off six straight and earned their fourth trip to states. This roster features seven wrestlers with 17 or more wins, which isn't bad considering some of the teams they faced. The Lions are 1-6 in state dual matches and square off against Becahi in the opener. That means they will have to wait until Friday to try and get win No. 2.
Towanda (27-2)
Mascot: Black Knights. Coach: Bill Sexton. PIAA Team Championship appearance: Fifth.
How they got here: Slipped past Montoursville 31-27 to win fourth District 4 title in eight years.
Wrestlers to watch: Nick Secules (120), Steven Yates (138), Tristan Decker (145), Justin Sheets (152), Dayton Wickwire (160).
Skinny: The Black Knights don't only boast a hefty 27 wins, they have some street cred on that resume. Wins over Chestnut Ridge, Juniata and a pair over Montoursville jump off the page, as well as a roster that sports eight wrestlers over 20 wins. Anxious to see how the champs from District 4 fare in first-round match against Fort LeBoeuf.
Fort LeBoeuf (9-4)
Mascot: Bison. Coach: Tim Simon. PIAA Team Championship appearance: Tenth.
How they got here: Beat Greenville 36-28 in District 10 semifinals before losing to Reynolds 39-18 in the finals. Beat Jefferson-Morgan in state pig-tail round 47-19.
Wrestlers to watch: Isaac Bengal (113), Jarret Carter (120), Tyler Kuzma (126), George McGuire (138), Brad Malinowski (152), Anthony Rivera (182), Garrett Reinwald (195), Nate Conti (285).
Skinny: Forget the Bison's four losses, as they came at the hands of Reynolds (twice), McDowell and Canon-McMillan. This group is formidable. The Bison are tied with Central Dauphin for the second most victories in state championship history (23) and feature eight ranked wrestlers on this team. Simon's club is a first-round favorite before hitting Becahi in the quarters. Don't be surprised if the Bison start mowing down teams in consolations.
