Hershey (13-7, 10-5), which dropped a 63-39 decision to Cedar Cliff on Friday night, has won nine of its last 11 games. One of those victories was a 74-43 triumph over Palmyra on Jan. 8 highlighted by 23 points from Dylan Painter, 11 from Taylor Sweeney and 10 from Ricky Bugg.
Austin Yetter dropped in 10 for Pete Conrad’s Cougars (5-16, 1-14).
Paul Blackburn’s surging Trojans can put five players on the floor, all of whom are averaging 10-plus points per game. While Bucknell football recruit Chase Watkins is scoring at a 14.0 ppg clip, Jack Gunkel (12.3 ppg), Bugg (10.3 ppg), Painter (10.1 ppg) and Sweeney (10.1 ppg) provide Blackburn’s club with balance and an assortment of go-to players.
Conrad’s youthful Cougars, who suffered an 86-61 setback Friday night at Trinity, are trying to end a difficult season on a positive note. Sporting a roster flush with underclassmen, Yetter (14.2 ppg) and Connor Gurt (10.6 ppg) are the only Palmyra players averaging 10-plus points per.
