A fantastic slate of girls' basketball games for Saturday.
And it gets started bright and early when Donegal and Annville-Cleona get together in a make-up L-L League Section 3-4 crossover game at 11 a.m.
That's one of four league games set for Saturday, along with District 6 foes State College and Mifflin County getting together for a make-up Mid-Penn Commonwealth game — plus a pair of Tri-Valley League games, including outright leader Juniata traveling to Lancaster Country Day.
The real stars of Saturday's schedule are a handful of super nonleague match-ups, including:
* Class AAAA state-ranked No. 1 Cumberland Valley welcoming Class AAAA state-ranked No. 6 Mt. Lebanon for a showdown.
UPDATE: Mt. Lebanon is not making the trip; the game has been postponed because of snow, and the game will not be made up.
UPDATE: Elco at Conrad Weiser has been postponed and that game will not be made-up.
UPDATE: Lancaster Country Day at Tulpehocken has been postponed and that game will not be made up.
* Wilson is at Central Dauphin in a rematch of last year's District 3-AAAA championship game, won by the Bulldogs. These two also met back in December in a tournament in Delaware, and CD won that game.
* Middletown (16-2) is at Greencastle-Antrim (15-0) will knock heads; Middletown suffered its first Mid-Penn Capital loss on Friday and will be looking for a quick snap-back against the Mid-Penn's lone undefeated squad.
* Speaking of undefeated teams: Manheim Township will try and go to 18-0 when the Blue Streaks, No. 10 in our Class AAAA state rankings, host Berks power Governor Mifflin.
* A couple of reigning District 3 champs will square off when Steel-High (Class A) travels to York Catholic to take on the Fighting Irish, winners of the last District 3-AA championships in a row.
* Lancaster Catholic, which recently wrapped up the L-L League Section 4 championship, will go for its 15th win in a row when Solanco comes calling. The Crusaders are No. 6 in our Class AAA state rankings.
It should be a super Saturday. Weather permitting.
