Nick Hodgkins
Accomplishments: No wrestler in Wyomissing history boasted such a resume. Hodgkins finished his four-year career with a record of 164-8, with three District 3-AA titles across three different weight classes. He was also a fixture at the state level, amassing a 15-2 mark on his way to becoming a four-time PIAA placer and two-time champion across four weight classes. He captured gold as a sophomore at 130 and in his senior season at 145 (2011).
Did you know: Hodgkins was the No. 1 recruit at 145 coming out of high school according to Intermatwrestle.com and signed up to compete at Central Michigan. Before he went to school, he made his mixed martial arts debut during a summer event held in Hamburg. He was victorious on the judges scorecards. Hodgkins redshirted his first year at CMU, going 22-6 wrestling unattached in open tournaments. He isn't currently listed on the roster for the 2013-2014 season.
Why here: The minute Hodgkins stepped on the mat for the Spartans, you knew he was going to be a good one. He was accomplished on his feet, but he was even better on the mat. When he got you in a pinning position, he finished you with tenacity and little remorse. Hodgkins' only two state losses came against Shade Side Academy's Dane Johnson, a three-time state champ, as a freshman and Tyrone's A.J. Schopp, a four-time placer during his junior year. Hodgkins ended his career the way a wrestler of his caliber should, by majoring Greenville three-time placer Cody Copeland to complete a 47-0 season. A skilled competitor, Hodgkins had the complete resume and has earned his position in District 3 history.
