Mike Khan

Accomplishments: Khan made a living at the 103-pound weight class, winning district titles from 1995 through 1997. He was also huge at the state level, finishing second as a sophomore, losing 13-8 to Northampton three-time placer Dennis Liberto in the finals before landing back-to-back state titles in 1996 and 1997. To this day, he is the only Harrisburg High School wrestler to win two state titles.

Did you know: Khan was a two-time national wrestling and Greco Roman champion and competed on the 1997 Wrestling USA Magazine team. He has also been a part of Harrisburg MMA, which trains mixed martial arts fighters. The Cougars standout was inducted into the District 3 Hall of Fame in 2010.

Why here: Some wrestlers can win on attitude, and Khan was a good one. As a senior, he was tied with Parkland's Troy Minarovic at 4 heading to overtime in the state final. Minarovic won the toss and chose bottom, but Khan rode him out for the 30-second period ti claim gold. Not only did it show Khan's tenacity, it also was a display of will that he routinely won in his matches. Every list needs a tough guy, and Khan fits the mold.

What they said: “Michael was a ferocious competitor. There were several matches throughout his career where he was in danger of losing in the final seconds and found a way to pull it out, whether it was regulation or overtime. He was very difficult to beat in the third period.” — Rod Frisco, former lead wrestling writer for The Patriot-News.
