Very light night on local girls' basketball courts around the midstate on Wednesday, with a smattering of nonleague games and a pair of Mid-Penn games on the docket.
But the M-P division games are both beauties:
In the Capital, Middletown (8-0, 13-1) hosts Susquenita (6-1, 12-1). That game was originally slated for Thursday, but was pushed back to Wednesday because of a scheduling conflict. The Blue Raiders and the Blackhawks will duke it out for first place; Susquenita walks out of Middletown as co-leaders with a victory.
And in the Commonwealth, old-school rivals Central Dauphin and Cumberland Valley will knock heads in CV's Dome. The Eagles took over sole possession of first place on Monday when CV beat Harrisburg and CD dropped a 62-60 OT decision vs. Mifflin County. So the Rams (5-2, 8-4) will need a win over the Eagles (7-1, 11-2) to force a tie.
Wednesday's most intriguing nonleague game: Cedar Crest (11-2) visits Palmyra (12-1) for an all-Lebanon County clash. Falcons are a game out in the L-L League Section 1 race; Cougars are tied with Mechanicsburg for the M-P Keystone lead — and those two play Friday at Mechanicsburg. Palmyra would love some momentum going into that one, coming off a loss to Hershey last week.
