The Bishop McDevitt wrestling team was a little bit of an unknown heading into the 2013-2014 season.

At the very least, Scott Lindsey's Crusaders are formidable challengers for the Mid-Penn Capital championship.

That was evident Thursday, when the Crusaders dumped defending division champ Northern 44-27. Lindsey's squad racked up five bonus-point wins and took advantage of a pair of forfeits in the home victory.

Terrence White started things off with a big first period of his 126-pound bout, scoring a takedown and two near-fall points on his way to a 7-4 decision over Gunnar Merovich. David Pipa (132) followed it up with a fall over James Chopka, and the Crusaders were rolling.

John Pipa (113) and Jayden Johnson (120) also scored falls. Freshman Zane Black (195) and Cole Nye (220) registered majors. Black bounced Austin Egolf 12-2.

Jaret Holford (138) and Kyle Koser (182) posted falls for the Polar Bears.
