Susquehanna Twp. opens with 56-48 win over Berks Catholic as Bud Mack and Joe Marshall split 34 points

Nehemiah “Bud” Mack and Joe Marshall split 34 points as Susquehanna Twp. registered a 56-48 victory over Berks Catholic in the opening round of the Hoffman Ford Tip-Off Tournament Friday night at Central Dauphin High School.

 

Nana Foulland, who signed last month with Bucknell, tossed in a game-high 22 points for Snip Esterly’s Berks Catholic ballclub. Connor Jack chipped in 10 points for the Saints, who were without a number of starters involved in today’s PIAA Class AA semifinal-round football game.

 

Susquehanna Twp. will meet host Central Dauphin in Saturday’s championship game. The Rams advanced with a 50-39 victory over a shorthanded Steel-High side, getting a shared 25 points from Manny Gonzalez and Aaron Gress.

 

Anthony Wright tossed in 20 points for the Rollers, while Jaki Bowman chipped in 13. …

 

Jordan Dockens poured in 31 points as Carlisle held off South Western 54-51 in the back end of the Thundering Herd’s Carlisle Classic twinbill. The Herd’s victory also came in front of several members of the 1988 PIAA Class AAAA state title team — which was honored Friday night — including Billy Owens and head coach Dave Lebo. Noah Staub and Brock Geiman split 32 points for the Mustangs.

 

Up next for Carlisle is a date with Mechanicsburg — a 63-42 victor over Hatboro-Horsham — in Saturday night’s title game. Drew Schankweiler (18), Zach Brunner (13), Evan Brosious (11) and Reed Alioth cracked double figures for Bob Strickler’s victorious Wildcats. …

 

Tyler Hoagland, Derek Ford and Zack Galic combined for 44 points as Cedar Cliff downed host Gettysburg 62-50 in the latter’s season-opening tournament. Tyler Lampe pocketed 19 points for Jeff Bair’s Warriors.

 

Cedar Cliff will meet Shippensburg, a 54-39 winner over New Oxford in the other game, in Saturday’s final. Bryce Hastings netted 15 points and Cordell Shannon added 14 for Ray Staver’s Greyhounds. …

 

Austin Pittenger and Eric Contreras shared 25 points as Boiling Springs held off Northern York 60-57 in the opening round of its Paul Corby Tip-Off. Dillon Heatwole netted 18 points and Brandon Johnson netted 11 for Ron McDonald’s Polar Bears.

 

Awaiting the host Bubblers in Saturday night’s final will be Greenwood, which defeated Spring Grove 52-42 behind 17 points from Adam Harrison and 12 from Tyler Fegley. Eli Brooks’ 13 points led the Rockets. …

 

Sam Light rang up 37 points and Daymon Long added 14 as Northern Lebanon numbed Middletown 87-49 in the opening round of the Annville-Cleona Tip-Off Tournament. Gary Bouchette’s Vikings, up 46-28 at the halftime break, will meet the host Little Dutchmen in Saturday night’s championship game.

 

A-C, which honored its 1999 PIAA Class AA championship team, trimmed York County Tech 68-48 in the other game. Paxson Hayes scored 19 points to lead four players in double figures for the Dutchmen, who made skipper Chris Bradford a winner in his first outing on the A-C bench.
