Back-door cuts: Steve Powell planted himself at McCaskey in 1972 and has been there ever since, so maybe we should obey when he says his Red Tornado cannot be the preseason favorite. But ... I mean ... it's McCaskey, right? Unbeaten through league play last year. Another L-L tournament championship. Good district run. Sure, an enormous chunk of that team graduated, but they don't rebuild rosters in Lancaster; they reload them. And stud athletes like Bynum (football), Pinkard and Gantz, combined with probably the toughest non-con schedule in District 3 (look below), means we can't hold back. We think McCaskey will be right there mixing it up with the rest of Section 1 at the end.

Projected order of finish in L-L Section 1: 1st of 6

First game: Saturday evening, 5:15, vs. No. 1-ranked Roman Catholic at Lower Merion's showcase

First home game: Wednesday, Dec. 11, 7:30 vs. No. 2-ranked Chester
