Back-door cuts: While Conners & Co. have endured more than their share of setbacks the past three seasons, the Raiders were forced to deal with yet another blow when talented junior big man Cameron Paul shipped out to Cedar Cliff. Despite Paul’s sizable loss, Elco returns four starters and much of its 2012-13 rotation so experience alone should put the Raiders higher on the competitiveness meter and pin down several more results. An emphasis on team defense and rebounding will be another plus for Conners’ club. And with no pure hammers in Section 3, perhaps the Raiders can climb out of the cellar and make some needed strides. Early results would really help a program desperate to find even the slightest bit of confidence and momentum.

First game: Friday, Dec. 6 vs. Lebanon in the Lebanon Tip-Off Tournament. 7:30 start.
First home game: Tuesday, Dec. 10 vs. Conrad Weiser. 7:30 tip.
