District and PIAA classification: 3-A
Head coach: Kent Houser (22nd season at Greenwood, 454-136).
2012-13 record: 21-5 overall, 15-1 in Tri-Valley League. Finished second in District 3-A tournament. Reached PIAA Class A playoffs, but lost to Sullivan County in opening round.
Players: Tyler Fegley, 6-2 sr G
Adam Harrison, 6-4 sr F
Nick Kerstetter, 6-3 jr F
Lucas Grimm, 6-0 sr G
Noah Lebkicher, 6-1 sr G
Joe Sheaffer, 6-4 sr C
Seth Ferguson, 5-10 so G
Kevin Sheaffer, 6-0 so G
Noah Wright, 6-4 so C
Back-door cuts: Having claimed the last five Tri-Valley League championships — Houser’s unsinkable Wildcats also have appeared in five straight District 3-A title games and become a fixture at Hershey’s Giant Center — Greenwood actually dropped a league game last season (the ‘Cats’ TVL winning streak was halted at 38 games) and still won No. 5 by two full games. Even without top two scorers Josh Ferguson and Ryan Kerstetter in the fold, Houser’s club has more than enough pop to go with that customary man-to-man D to make it six straight TVL crowns. Will they start filling another hand with championship rings? Check back in February.
Projected order of finish: 2ndof 9.
First game: Friday, Dec. 6 vs. Spring Grove in Boiling Springs’ Paul Corby Tip-Off Tournament. 6 p.m. start.
First home game: Friday, Dec. 13 vs. Newport. 7:30 tip.
