For the first time since 2002, Lower Dauphin claimed District 3 gold by defeating Mid-Penn Conference partner Cumberland Valley 24-21 in a thrilling Class AAAA finale at Hersheypark Stadium.
The Falcons (13-1) used three touchdown runs by QB Troy Spencer and a 37-yard field goal by Joe Julius to advance to the PIAA semifinals next Saturday at Altoona's Mansion Park Stadium. Lower Dauphin will face WPIAL champ Pittsburgh Central Catholic (14-0) at 1 p.m.
