WEST LAWN --- With the game on the line, Lower Dauphin had the right guy lining up for a potential game winning field goal.
Senior Joe Julius has made headlines and turned heads throughout his high school career with signature his field goals of 40-plus and even 50-plus yards.
Friday's game-winning boot against Wilson in the District 3-AAAA football semifinals was another one of those kicks.
As the clocked ticked down to 10 seconds, Julius capped a 46-yard drive with a 46-yard field goal to produce a thrilling 17-14 win, sending the Falcons into next Saturday's District 3-AAAA championship game against Cumberland Valley.
Game time is 6 p.m. at Hersheypark Stadium.
"Honestly, I knew we were going to score there, I was just worried about how much time was going to be on the clock," said LD coach Rob Klock.
"Doug [Dahms] being the smart coach that he is, kept time on the clock. I was going to let it run down to three seconds and then call the timeout, but I knew [Joe] was going to make it. That's not an exaggeration, I truly did."
