When Pequea Valley's soccer-playing boys close out their season-ending banquet later tonight, veteran skipper Robbie Martin will be closing out his run as the Braves' head coach.
Apparently, 10 seasons was enough.
Reported first by Lancaster Newspapers' Tim Gross, Martin and assistant coach Matt Graham will end their respective tenures in the Pequea Valley technical area once tonight's banquet comes to an end.
During his decade-long run in Kinzers, Martin piloted the Braves to the 2012 PIAA Class AA championship and District 3 titles in 2005 (Class A), 2006 (AA) and 2013 (AA).
Pequea Valley (20-5-1) nearly reached the PIAA Class AA title game for the second year in a row, but a 1-0 loss to eventual champion Holy Ghost Prep in the state semifinals brought the Braves' repeat hopes to a halt. The goal Holy Ghost scored was the only finish conceded by Pequea in seven postseason starts.
