Every Friday during the prep football season, members of the PennLive.com football coverage team will highlight a few of Pennsylvania's top match ups. Here's a look at the best of week 2.
Parkland (1-0) at Easton (1-0): We're thinking the seventh-ranked Red Rovers have that lopsided sub-regional loss to Parkland fresh on their minds. Either way, Easton's Cottingham Stadium should be buzzing over this always grizzly Lehigh Valley Conference throwdown.
Lewisburg (1-0) at Mount Carmel (1-0): This one has a bit more sizzle with confident Green Dragons WB Nick Costagliola back under center. As a sophomore, Costagliola went for nearly 1,400 passing yards and 13 touchdowns. That said, the corner of W. Third Street and N. Birch Street, better known as the Silver Bowl in Mount Carmel, is always a tough venue to escape.
Woodland Hills (0-1) at McKeesport (1-0): One of Saturday's best Class AAAA showdowns will take place at Weigle-Schaeffer Memorial Stadium in McKeesport. The third-ranked Wolverines are coming off that hard-fought loss to new No. 1 Upper St. Clair last week. McKeesport saw QB David Queen and running backs Mikell Moore and Seanlou Gilmore all top 100 rushing yards against Hempfield Area.
La Salle College (1-0) at Imhotep Charter (1-0): Another potential gem on Saturday as Class AAAA No. 6 La Salle College takes on the Class AA No. 2 Panthers, coming off that impressive 49-21 week 1 victory over Cardinal Mooney (OH) at Youngstown State University. Imhotep's talented offensive line, massive for any classification, hopes to spring versatile RB Nasir Bonner against the five-time defending Catholic League (AAAA) champs.
