MANHEIM — Plenty of new things on the table for Conestoga Valley's football team this season.
Like a new head coach, for starters.
Say hello to Mark Pieters, the Buckskins' longtime assistant and former Penn Manor and Solanco coach.
CV's former d-coordinator took over the reins last winter when Tom Nichols stepped down to go back to Coatesville.
Second, a new offense.
Pieters installed a "Wing-T" set this summer, and his kids have been practicing hard to pick up the nuances of that run-first scheme.
And third, a new defense.
Pieters junked his "4-3" base and will go with more of a stack look, with five d-backs on the field at all times.
CONESTOGA VALLEY COUNTDOWN TO KICKOFF PREVIEW
Pieters and his Bucks are hoping the new looks will pay dividends in the grinder Section 2 race — CV's last go-round in Section 2 before shuffling off to Section 1 (for the first time since 1980) next year.
Caught up with Bucks' vets Justus Norman, Orlando Lopez and Brendon Martin at L-L League Media Day a few weeks back, and talked about CV's changes and the upcoming season. Take a look.
