Since bursting onto the hight school swimming scene in 2010-11, Hershey senior Meaghan Raab has been swimming fast, breaking records and collecting an impressive haul of postseason gold medals.

Not surprisingly, Raab's resume makes her a coveted recruit among some of the top college swimming programs in the country.

Raab's whirlwind recruiting season kicked off July 1 - the first official day that college coaches can contact rising seniors.

"It's been both nervous and exciting," said Raab.

"I don't know yet what I want to study, so there are a lot of factors and choices to go through career wise."

Raab, a key member of a Hershey girls' team that has won two of the last three PIAA Class AAA team titles, told PennLive that she's narrowed her choice to four schools and will make official visits to Texas, California, Georgia and Tennessee.

The three-time defending state champion in the 100 freestyle could make a verbal declaration anytime in the next months and sign a letter of intent as early as Nov. 13. Raab said she'll make her last official visit in late October and hopes to make her choice soon after.

"I don't want to go too much longer [after my final visit]," said Raab.

"It's not something that I want weighing on me into my senior year, but I want to make sure that I make the right choice."

Raab also won Class AAA gold in the 200 freestyle in 2011 and 2012 and holds the state record in both the 100 free and 200 free. She has also won six individual District 3-AAA titles.

On the national side, Raab competed in last summer's U.S. Olympic Trials in the 100-meter butterfly and 200-meter IM.

She'll join the rest of her Hershey Aquatic Club teammates at this week's Middle Atlantic Long Course Senior Championships at Bucknell University. Later this summer, Raab will compete at Speedo Junior National Championship on Aug. 5-9 in Irvine, Calif.

As for midstate connections to Raab's final four, Hershey grad Alex Barsanti attended Tennessee and Trinity grad Caroline Finkbeiner is heading into her sophomore season with the Volunteers.

East Pennboro grad Leah Gingrich graduated from Texas, while former Wilson standout and Olympic silver medalist Kristy Kowal graduated from Georgia. Warwick grad Emily Cameron will also be attending Georgia.
