LANCASTER - Jhett Janis snapped his PR with a javelin heave of 206-1 on Tuesday, good for a fourth-place finish in the USA World Youth Track and Field Championships in Edwardsville, Illinois.
Janis' former PR was a Cocalico program-best 204-6 that he uncorked in a dual meet this past season.
He finished second in the L-L League finals, second in the District 3 Class AAA finals and seventh in the PIAA finals earlier this spring.
The World Youth Track and Field Championships are for athletes ages 16 and 17 (born in 1996 or 1997), and top finishers will be considered for the IAAF World Youth Team.

Janis' 206-1 and fourth-place was much-needed; two weeks ago at the New Balance Outdoor Nationals in North Carolina, Janis fouled three times and didn't get out of the prelims.
Denham Patricelli won the World Youth javelin title with a throw of 221-5; Curtis Thompson took silver with a 212-3; and Chris Mirabelli was third with a 207-3.
