Garner joins Williamsport's Isaiah Washington, who committed to Patrick Chambers' Nittany Lions prior to his junior season, in Penn State's 2014 recruiting class. Both landed on the Class AAAA all-state team (second team) selected in April by a panel of Pennsylvania sports writers.
A Chester native, Garner committed to the Nittany Lions while in State College and participating in a Penn State camp with his Roman Catholic team.
Garner is the second Philadelphia-based player to commit to the Nittany Lions in the last week, joining 6-8 rising junior big man Michael Watkins. Watkins, who will transfer to reigning Class AAA champion Imhotep Charter from John Bartram, verballed to Penn State on Wednesday.
Bishop McDevitt's Milik Gantz, a rising 6-3 junior with lead guard skills, made an unofficial visit to Penn State on Monday.
