A back-and-forth game took nine innings to swing back to North Penn's favor.
A line-drive single to left by Bobby Scott drove in Eddie Posavec to give the Knights a PIAA Class AAAA baseball championship Friday night in State College, winning 6-5 over District 3 champ Lower Dauphin.
The first eight runs of the game came in bunches as LD struck first with three in the third inning, catcher Deon Stafford delivering a key two-run single.
North Penn finally got to LD starter Marshall Kiessling in the fifth with a 5-spot as the Knights sent 10 batters to the plate and an amazing number of seven of them connected for hits.
LD, though, battled back with a single tally in the sixth as Stafford scored on Kyle Fails' hit, and another in the seventh to tie the game at 5 as Jeff Light crossed the plate after a Kaylor Kulina single.
Kulina relieved Kiessling in the seventh and at one point registered four straight strikeouts, but Posavec reached on a fielder's choice for North Penn, stole second and scored on Scott's line drive.
Two separate North Penn celebrations ensued as the Knights brought so many players that two dogpiles of players quickly grew.
LD finished its season at 22-6-1 while North Penn, the fourth-place team from District 1, completed its year at 17-10.
