In her last Mid-Penn Track and Field Meet, and her last meet in her home stadium, Chambersburg's Marshay Ryan set meet records in the long and triple jumps on Saturday afternoon.
Ryan had a 42-0 in the triple jump early in the afternoon, then had a 19-0 3/4 in the late afternoon.
She said she was aiming more for her own personal goals for this season, a 21-0 in the long and a 44-0 in the triple, than for the records.
"AFter a couple jumps I thought about it a little, but I wasn't really thinking about the records until it was over," Ryan said.
In the triple jump, it took Ryan to her last attempt to make the record. In the long jump, she did it on her first.
She followed that record long jump with two fouls, one of which she said would have been at least 20 feet.
Ryan had the old long jump record as well, an 18-7 1/2. Carlisle's Ashley Corum had the previous triple jump record with a 40-9 1/2.
Cumberland Valley wins girls' team title
Northern's Kennedy Shank tied the meet record in the pole vault with an 11-6.
Caroline Cotton, a freshman from Hershey, won the high jump with a 5-2. She beat second place Carrie Mowen of Waynesbro on fewest misses.
In the throws, Jackie Downey of East Pennsboro won the discus with an 115-7.
"I'm happy [with the distances]," Downey said. "The weather conditions weren't ideal, but since I throw in rainy conditions for practice I'm used to it."
The girls' javelin was in the morning during one of two heavy rains that came through Chambersburg during the meet. The second forced an hour delay in the meet, but most events continued through the morning rain.
"They had the leaf blowers out between throws," Downey said of the attempts to keep the throwing circle dry.
Bishop McDevitt's Anna Bailey won the javelin with a 131-4.
Madison Bleiler of Northern took the shot with a 35-5 1/2.
