LANCASTER - Five L-L League boys' tennis teams - including reigning champ Manheim Township - are set for the District 3 team tournament, which begins Thursday in Hershey.
In Class AAA, Hempfield, Manheim Township and Manheim Central are in the bracket.
And in Class AA, Elco and Donegal are in the bracket.
And as luck would have it, Elco and Donegal will square off in the first round.
Same in Class AAA, where Manheim Township will take on Manheim Central.

NOTABLE: Hempfield is the reigning back-to-back champ, but the Black Knights, who fell to Manheim Township in the league finals, must get through Exeter, which was undefeated during the regular season, and then possibly No. 1-seed - and undefeated - Cumberland Valley just to get back to the finals - and a shot at a possible three-peat. ... Hempfield features reigning L-L League Flight 1 singles champ Derek Hagino, and the reigning L-L League Flight 1 doubles champs, Hagino and Tommy Athey. ... The L-L League has won the last three District 3 Class AAA team titles; Manheim Township won gold in 2010, giving the Blue Streaks three District 3 Class AAA championships. ... Manheim Township also won six single-class championships between 1974-1995. District 3 went to a two-classification tournament starting in 1999. ... Since 1999, Dallastown has the most Class AAA team titles - 4.

NOTABLE: This bracket has turned into the Wyomissing Invitational; Wyo is the 5-time defending champ - and enters this year's tourney as the No. 2 seed behind independent Lancaster Country Day. ... Wyo has won nine Class AA championships overall since the district went to two classifications in 1999. ... The last non-Wyo team to win a Class AA team title: Lancaster Catholic, in 2007. ... Wyo also won one-class team titles in 1950, 1952 and 1973. ... Elco is coming off a terrific showing in the L-L League championships. Adam Bahney won the Flight 1 Class AA singles title - knocking off teammate Tyler Arnold - and Bahney and Galen McNaughton won the Flight 1 Class AA doubles crown with a riveting three-set win over Donegal's Eric Ebersole and Andrew Hollinger. ... McNaughton topped Lancaster Mennonite's Caleb Harnish in the third-place singles match, giving Elco the top three singles finishers in the league tourney.

* The District 3 singles tournament is set for Saturday, May 4 at 1 p.m. (first two rounds) and Monday, May 6 at 12 p.m. (semifinals and finals) at Hershey Racquet Club.
* The District 3 doubles tournament is set for Friday, May 10 at 12 p.m. (first two rounds) and Saturday, May 11 at 1 p.m. (semifinals and finals) at Hershey Racquet Club.
* The L-L League gets four automatic for Class AAA and three automatic qualifiers for Class AA in those tournament.
